Subject: Duranty and all that
Dear Sir:
The New York Times is often attacked for liberal prejudices, most of
which I share. In order to minimize any damage to the reputation of the
best newspaper the world has ever known, I ask you to seriously consider
returning the 1932 Pulitzer Prize for Walter Duranty (what was it at the
time, $500?) before or while the committee meets. It would be an act of
justice and one of grace for your newspaper.
